Does anybody know what bulbs are best for the grow and use the less energy? Is there a way to power up bulbs on batteries (for only few plants)?

@soundwolf6 you haven’t offended anyone, you’ve saved them tons of money and frustration. we went with induction and saved the grow. anyone want to buy 4 300 watt led panels?

    01. Nov, 2010

@northsider707 Want to buy 4 300 watt LED panels cheap? They did not produce as advertised thats for sure have you tried a grow with induction lighting? ck out the you tube video for indagro or the pics on their website. we’ve had good yields 300 grams in our tents with the 100 watters 1-100 for veg 2-100 for budding. it comes down to PAR on these lights and the VEL for 2 100 watt induction os higher then a single 400 watt hps. peace

I wish he would have mentioned the CFM output of the fan in this room. Also anyone is this fan just one of those regular Propeller style blade fans, like the ones I could buy at home depot for example? I was wondering and possibly worried as I have a little duct to run through and adding the Carbon filter if this would be borderline loads for this type of fan. Do they make real gentle vortex style fans? Cheers, IC.

@rockondon yes sir I didn’t watch the vid so I couldn’t know you meant foot and not meters. 9×9 foot is realistic for sure however 9×9 meter is not.. :-)

  9. rockondon

    01. Nov, 2010

@Petersearch1 go to hidhut.com there sites says they outperform a 400watt hps
and cover a 9foot square area..i take it you didnt watch my last video but just responded?

    01. Nov, 2010

@Petersearch1 BTW if anyone wants to test a 600 Watt LED grow light with dimming . meaning it is possible to tune the spectrum to suit the diferent plant phases give me a meassage. It is also possible to tune it down to EG. 200 Watt if you dont need it to be 600 watt and so on.

  11. Petersearch1

    01. Nov, 2010

@rockondon You don’t need too use CFL’s to get a beutiful result when using LED’s. we are talking to much fuss for almost no gain. If a person told you that a LED ufo can cover an area of 9×9 meters they are lieing. It is more like 2×2 depending on the watt effect of each LED. the more watt per LED the more lightintensity and therefore you can raise the lamp higher to cover a larger area.sellers will tell you that you can raise a lamp to the moon just to get the sale but that is not reality.

    01. Nov, 2010

    @rockondon
back then i was almost sold on the LED “UFO’s” grow light system.
however i went with my original plan of HID. HPS and MH @ 4 hundred watts in a 4x4x6 grow tent. so far, so good.
the end of this month i’ll see my first PG&E bill. interesting to see what the difference will be in cost.

  14. rockondon

    01. Nov, 2010

@northsider707 pricey considering for 300 bucks you can get 2 400watt hps lamps
that are full spectrum.you could grow for 1 cycle and have enough medicine for a
    loong time lol

  15. rockondon

    01. Nov, 2010

@MrWitgenstein WHY WOULD YOU NEED to combine cfls with leds if they work so well HIDHUT says a 1 ledufo will cover a 9×9 area and outperform a 400watt hps?
so looks like all you led folks dont need cfls from what ive read, because why add
    WASTED LIGHT RIGHT?

Thanks, Erik, for always sharing the most wonderful info about indoor gardening. I have been reading a lot about LED lately and I was also thinking of using this type of lighting for my plants. I am just concerned about the expenses because it is really costly. Anyway, thanks for walking us through your LED grow chamber, I may really consider switching to LED because of this :)

@rockondon LED is getting cheaper everyday.. check these cheap LED’s here at pulsargrow (dot)com .. 159 for 90w LED incl door delivery. that is better than buying CFLS. however I think like the video to optimize it is good to combine if you wanna go nerd on your grow.

    @nickeatsfire
this LED light system is groundbreaking for the indoor grower/ medical user.
more pros than cons for sure.
i found a 2 pack of 90 watt LED “UFO” grow lamps that cover all spectrums during veg and flower for about $400.00. yes kinda pricey but they last 5 years at 24/7.

    @rockondon
going watt for watt, with high output quad band models, my experience and the feedback I have been receiving has the LEDs coming out ahead…naturally, this is going to depend on some factors. CFLs are affordable and can be effective for smaller plants, so naturally I like them too.

  26. annahasier

The US military has always been on lead with energy retrofit projects for their bases. With LED & CFL installations this has proven to be a problem so this is what they did

On 3/18/10 they issued a memorandum that affects all basesand banned all LED installs because of LED & CFL lamp failures, warranty issues on page 17 & lumen output issues in 8-6. sound familiar

see the doc on the inda-gro home page ‘compare’ link. narrow spectrum reduces photomorphogenisis its the ‘emerson effect’

FYI TO ALL THE LED GROWERS – The owner of Hydro Grow Cameron Scott Wieldraayer has changed his gender and is now known as Cammie McKenzie.
She has moved to Palmdale, California and has started a new scam involving the import and sale of Chinese-made L.E.D. grow lights for the hydroponic industry. Her company’s name is Hydro Grow LED and the website is: Hydro Grow LED
n her current scam she utilizes the screen name LEDGirl

Thanks for sharing very good information about LED lights. I agree, finding the right LED lights can really be very hard to do. You really need to look closer on the product and check on the watts of the lights. Again, thanks for giving great tips on how to find the right LED lights.

I hear your frustration! Great videos and soooo true. We too spent asmall fortune on LED fixttures and will never do so again. There is an alternative. I strongly encourage you to visit the inda-gro web site and really check out the bottom tabs which was information that compared PAR-Operational-Lumen output etc…
LEDS do advertise more then they deliver, burn out and are too expensive. If you have not tried induction lamps that have custom phosphors for the entire plant cycle.

  32. silverpizza100

    01. Nov, 2010

Oh now the have the LED square lights that put out way more. Radio shack wants like 2 bucks each but you can piece together something better than they are making with the round LEDs. LEDS are tricky, they have different watts and wave lengths and evenn are directional. You need to know electronics to do it right.

  33. silverpizza100

    01. Nov, 2010

I got the 120 LED and its pretty bright, its heavy and feels solid. Does about 4×4 area. HID lights are cheaper but the price is going up and up. I could get a 1000 HPS for 300 5 years ago, Now they have these glass hoods that cost that alone and you cant find a system without the glass.

i fucking love this bloke, i was planing on buying a £25 LED pannel for my first closet grow because i’m worried about the heat and don’t really want to put in price fans if i don’t need to, its great to hear someone talking so passionately about growing and also i love just looking at plants, its a dream come true

  39. puffin420

    01. Nov, 2010

I dont’ mean to be captain obvious here so I’d like to clarify my previous post: The guys making the good lights are not ripping you off…. the guys making the cheap one are. The good lights cost that much because of the “real” engineering that goes into them, and because the high power LEDs really are just very costly. Prices for them should come down in a few years time, but the engineering will always be a factor.

  40. puffin420

    01. Nov, 2010

Hey, reality check. You bought all the cheapest lights you could find, then complained about them being cheap, what’d you expect buddy? Then complained about the good ones being expensive? Well guess what? Quality costs money. You get a return on your investment when they produce, and last awhile. You can tell just by looking at them you get a lot more for you money. Also, 3 to 5 W LEDs in the proper spectrum are almost non existent, likely custom made, and simply put, VERY EXPENSIVE.

    02. Nov, 2010

Ya i bought one of these crappy boards for like 50$ but i believe it was 14 watt with 225 red/blue lights… anyways after like 1 month like 30 lights turned off and they wouldnt turn on… after another week like another 30 leds stopped working….. I had one plant in seedling 1 week old and i put him under this stupid led light and it didnt grow at all for 2 weeks…… no progress… anyways you will need a really high power l3d to get a decent grow.. like 90 -120 is okay.. higher = better

  50. TommyTheTuna420

    02. Nov, 2010

@smokindodi420 – I disagree, 630nm is best to veg in, but to veg and flower with 660nm (blue/red) is best
